Effective writing and speaking is language charged with meaning pertaining to the cosmic order, to things, to experiences, and to one’s thoughts and feelings. This is true whether dealing with the past, present, or future. Inside every individual there are meanings which underlie one’s character, worldview, self-esteem, sense of belonging, position, and attainment of any sort.

The African origin of communication (which eventually led to English—and hence the term Afrocentric English) is emphasized here as another means for Black people to reclaim their ancient heritage. Two examples of the values of their ancient ancestors are: first, Spirit alone endows one with the highest self-meaning; and second, Ma’at (love in action) is the most basic meaning for right living.

This book fashions meaning through Critical Thinking; distills meaning into principles through the Yin/Yang filter; and assesses Afrocentric English for its effective delivery of principled meanings. Effectiveness implies power, force, and clarity.

Meanings occur in each of the diversities of existence contained in a given experience. Just as light enables the world of sight and rhythm enables the world of sound, meanings in things enable the world of reality. When real, meanings also enable the signifying of something, enable seeing the tendency toward something, enable appreciating the fulfilling of something, and/or enable the allowing of something to change without disappointment.

Tools are herein extensively discussed for recognizing, designing, and presenting meaning for purposes of persuading, informing, entertaining, expressing, sharing, teaching, instructing, educating, or serving as a call to action for decision-making and problem solving.
