Self-Protection Syndrome in Black Americans

Price per Unit (piece): $32.42 (including 8.25 % tax)

Free Africans in Africa trapped by the fishnet and brought as Slaves to the Americas demonstrated normal but extreme instinct self-protection. Eventual mental adjustments led to thoughtful Coping and Defense Mechanisms against brutal White Supremacy, White Privilege, and Negro Caste System practices. Yet, each mechanism adversely affected the Slaves’ minds, bodies, and spirits which, when carried out of slavery, became self-defeating patterns transmitted into today’s struggling descendants. Self-protection deemed “Too Much,” “Too Little,” or “Just Right” but somehow inappropriate constitutes the “Self-Protection Syndrome.” Its features, diagnostic criteria, and management tools are spotlighted herein. Chapters elaborate on who fear-addicted European enslavers were (and are) and how they induced the syndrome in Slaves and ex-Slaves. Methods for defensive or offensive handling of opponents are based on African martial artists’ “water” concepts. Suggestions for self-correction include helping afflicted Black Americans switch back to using their Thriving Minds; for reducing or preventing the need for improper self-protection; and for how to feel safe, secure, confident, strong, and stable without self-protection. Researchers, historians, sociologists, psychologists, teachers, and mentors will find in the chapters on Selfishness, Survival, Survivors, and the Brain helpful insights into problems of struggling Black Americans’ related to— and solutions for—poor academia, morbid obesity, hypertension, and the “Negro Diseases.”
